This Wednesday, April 6 is the beginning of Lent. Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter where we celebrate the Lord’s death and resurrection. My good friend Zach send me this link on the history of Lent and some practical things that you can do leading up to it. I am linking to it here if you are interested in doing something. In the past I have given up listening to Music when I am walking or driving and listening to news, podcasts or just praying. It has been a rewarding time for me. If you are planning on doing something please let me know as it would be good to have the accountability and just interesting to see how it goes for others. One of the things that I am planning on doing is the Daily Office. I have done this before, and it is a good discipline to get into as it keeps you focused on Jesus throughout the day.I hope you have a great week this week and that you find ways to bless many people as well as meeting people who are a blessing to you. On another note, it rained here today. While everyone else ran for cover I sat willingly and got wet, all the while dreaming of Seattle, home.

I am giving up complaining. I tend to make my world a lot worse than it is and I am sick of doing that.
Also, I am going to be participating in “40 Days toward Justice” which is a series of readings that Acting on AIDS is posting. They are the college ministry of World Vision. I thought about you, since you have your Justice Fridays. I thought you might be interested. here is the link: http://www.worldvision.org/aoa.nsf/aids/events_40daystowardjustice
The Daily office looks great Phil. I checked this website. Is this in Canada?
I love its similarity to early Church liturgy. We should be doing this all the time, it is so refreshing.
Bless you Bro,

Hey Phil-
I’m giving up sweets/sugar/etc…I know-it’s what everyone does-but I really miss it and it makes me think of Christ everyday.
Thanks for the site and encouragement-I’m going to go thru the daily office to help me focus-
Blessings-
Mary
