picture-1.pngI am not going to say which way I lean towards this war that is going on in the Middle East, but I do want to say that it hurts me to see and hear about people dying in it, especially young people with a full life in front of them. Do they die for a cause, yes they do, they die defending their country and it’s people. Is it a shame and an injustice that it has to happen? Yes. I hate war, I hate that innocent people die, I hate that innocent family members have to lose loved ones.

Sgt. David J. Hart Died in Iraq on January 8, 2008. David grew up on the YWAM base in Lake View Terrace where I worked. I knew him as a punk skater kid with fiery red hair and a ton of passion. Since I left the base there he grew up, fell in love, married and then fought and died in Iraq. I have been following his remembrance guest book and the other day I saw a post from his wife. It was beautiful and I thought I would post it here as it brings this war that the USA is fighting very close to us. Here it is.

  My Love,

It’s been a month now since I’ve last heard your voice… My heart aches for you every morning and I long to hear you tell me everything is going to be ok. I don’t know what feels more like a dream… that I had you or that you’re gone. I miss you, David. Since we were teenagers we’ve had to “wait” for each other… for one reason or another, one of us was usually waiting for the other… it was worth it, love. I regret nothing about us! You’re the love of my life and my very best friend! You left me with nothing but amazing memories!! Thank you, My Husband, for loving me so passionately… For challenging me… For teaching me… and for always putting me first. Thank you, for choosing me to be your wife. I’m so proud of you, David. I promise to tell your story… I won’t let anyone forget. I hope I can make you proud of the way I’ll face the future and carry on. I’ll see you soon, MY LOVE!!

Wow. That is so hard. Thanks for posting that. It’s hard when all I hear are numbers and never really put any faces. Too often it’s just “the troops” to me and not actual faces, people, stories, lives, husbands, fathers, sons, wives, children, daughters.
    Thank you for the faces.

I am a bit behind on reading your blog.. I read it and all of a sudden realized i knew that face… totally remember him from the base. Sad. Just plain sad.
