So a few of my friends have been talking about twitter lately. Wikipedia says twitter is “a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send “updates” (or “tweets”; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website, via short message service (e.g. on a cell phone), instant messaging, or a third-party application such as twitterific or Facebook.”
Now I am not a big fan of the words used, like twitter or twitterific, but the concept is great. My friend Rhett put up a post on twitter here. I think it is a great way to keep track of the people around you. Just to know what they are up to, share what you are seeing or doing and stay connected. There is so much talk about community going around these day’s and there are so many ways now that we can stay connected to our community, family, friends, and the world.
Yes I am sure it could get annoying being flocked with updates from friends saying that they are sitting down to eat dinner, playing golf, or going to sleep, but you can regulate this. I use a network like twitter to coincide with what I value and the people I want to here from and give to. Anyway, regardless of why you would use it, I am grateful for it. I am grateful to here that my friend Lars is safe in Bolivia as he drives though the jungle and that my nephew is having a good day. I am grateful that I can give up to the minute prayer requests or just share something of interest. Anyway, check it out and have a good day.
