Previous Post Passion
I was on Twitter tonight and saw a tweet from Eugene Cho on an event they were hosting at their cafe. They were screening the movie Call and Response. He also talked about IJM and posted a video from their founder Gary Haugen on the issue of slavery. Tonight I come off a week of teaching in Mexico on their YWAM Mission Adventures program. The theme is Re:Act and comes from Isaiah 61 where it say’s:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;”
We talked a lot this week about justice and how God doesn’t just want us to go into all the world and preach the gospel with our words, but to preach the Gospel with our lives and our actions. A big part of this is to do justice. The Bible tells us that if our faith does not produce good deeds that it is useless. I don’t want my faith to be useless. I take this seriously and I hope that they students that I was working with this week take this seriously now too. It encourages me that God is not just after our soul and our hearts, He is after our lives. He wants justice, he wants equality, he wants all men to be treated equal as all men/women were created in His image.
I am in closing attaching this video of Gary that is on Eugene’s site. Please take 7 minutes and watch. Thanks

Great video Phil. Thanks for sharing! We have a few of the IJM folks out in our neck of the woods these days too.
